Unexpected rains cool hottest days

The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center reported that a powerful operation of convective clouds triggered thunderstorms and showers on the large scale in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho and Kien Giang.

Additionally, unregulated operation of subtropical high pressure belt brought unseasonable rains, causing serious flooding in some low- lying areas. 

The weather agency also issued a rainy warning in some provinces and cities in the upcoming days, with an average temperature between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius. 

The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control reported that hail and cyclone caused serious damages in many localities in recent days.

In particular, thunderstorms blew up nearly 600 house roofs and destroyed more than 150 hectares of vegetable crops across three provinces of Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang and Thanh Hoa. 

The whole country has suffered the severe weather after the long- lasting record-breaking heatwaves. 

From April 28 to May 1, the nationwide provinces and cities are forecast to experience all types of weather disasters as scorching temperature between 30- 33 degrees Celsius at daytime, showers, thunderstorms, lightning, cyclone, hail and powerful wind in evenings.
