Chinese hackers hacked 220 Vietnamese websites between May 8 and 11, Ngo Anh Tuan, deputy director of BKAV Corporation’s internet security department, said yesterday.

Before China stationed its HD981 oil rig in Vietnamese waters [last week], 18-20 websites had been attacked daily, and the number averaged over 30 in recent days, he said.

The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Teams (Vncert) analyzed and discovered two Chinese hackers were responsible for the attacks on the 220 sites.

They automatically scanned websites with domain extension .vn to find errors, Vncert said.
