The major category of the Ta Quang Buu Award will be given to two scientists, namely Dr. Tran Dinh Phong of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hung of Ho Chi Minh City International University.

Dr. Tran Dinh Phong is the author of the scientific work in the physics field entitled ‘Coordination polymer structure and revisited hydrogen evolution catalytic mechanism for amorphous molybdenum sulfide’ (published on Nature Materials, 15, 640-646).

Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hung is the author of the scientific work in the agrobiology field entitled ‘In vitro digestibility and in vivo glucose response of native and physically modified rice starches varying amylose contents’ (published on Food Chemistry).

The 2018 Ta Quang Buu Award for young scientists will be given to Dr. Do Quoc Tuan of the University of Natural Science (a member of Hanoi National University) for his work in the physics field with the name ‘Higher dimensional nonlinear massive gravity’ (published on Physical Review D 93, 104003).

Before the announcement, the organization board of the award had a meeting on April 25 to evaluate and select winners from a list suggested by the Scientific Committee in Natural Science and Technology under the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED).

Since its first time in 2014, Ta Quang Buu Award has helped to foster researches on the basic sciences in particular and on science as well as technology in general in Vietnam. The award has aided Vietnamese scientists to keep up with their international counterparts in the globalization.
