3D printing technology fostered in Vietnam

The Center for Science and Technology Information (CESTI) under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology has just organized the meeting ‘3D Printing Technology – Future Implementation’.

3D printing technology fostered in Vietnam

This meeting aims at analyzing possible future trends in the field, since there have been around 19,190 inventions related to 3D printing technology worldwide.

According to Dr. Hoang Xuan Tung from the Materials Technology Department of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) University of Technology, this new printing method allows designers to form precise physical model from a 3D CAD design. The new model is able to display highly complicated details with much cheaper expense.

The 3D printing technology can be applied in all industries and aspects of life.

In the event, other scientists from the HCMC University of Technology also shared that they were researching the 3D printing technology using plastic combined with metal. They successfully created and experimented many types of common 3D printers to serve teaching and learning purposes.

However, experts commented that the implementation of 3D printing technology in Vietnam is on an initially stage, and thus many machines have to be imported.

Simultaneously, the competitiveness is increasing since experienced foreign companies of the field are expected to enter the domestic market in the near future.

It is high time to foster the implementation of this new technology to reality while encouraging more thorough research on materials to serve 3D printing in the fields of mechanics, construction, and bio-medicine. This new technology also needs popularizing among schools and manufacturing plants.
