AT&T Extends Global Network to Viet Nam

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) Wednesday announced in Ha Noi that Viet Nam will be accessible to its global network through collaboration with one of the leading national telecom carriers, Viettel Corporation.

The collaboration with Viettel, sealed against the backdrop of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit 2006 (APEC CEO Summit) in Ha Noi, paves the way for AT&T to extend advanced information and communications support to its growing number of multinational enterprises customers with sites in Viet Nam.

“As the second fastest growing economy in the Asia Pacific region, Viet Nam is an exciting place for us to be extending our network reach.” Chris Rooney, senior vice president Worldwide, AT&T Operations Inc., who will also speak at the APEC CEO Summit 2006, said, “ We expect that this collaboration between AT&T and Viettel will promote investment in Viet Nam by all telecom-dependent industry sectors and provide a catalyst for further economic growth in the country,”

AT&T already serves customers with sites in Viet Nam through interconnection agreements with domestic telecom carriers.

Viettel will provide services within Viet Nam while AT&T will provide service outside Viet Nam.

Through this collaboration, Viettel and AT&T will connect Viet Nam into the AT&T global network and offer multinational enterprise customers in the country advanced networking services through Viettel.

Initial services will include Virtual Private Network and Frame Relay services, and there are plans to add more services going forward.
