Internet connection in Vietnam to be recovered by Jan 23

FPT Telecom Company, a member of the FPT Corporation, on January 8 confirmed information from the AAG’s management center that Internet connection between Vietnam and other countries will be recovered by January 23.

According to the plan, the repair team will arrive at the location where the AAG submarine cable was cut at 1 am on Jan 15. The team will start their work of rejoining the cable at 7 pm on Jan 17 and by 6 pm on Jan 19 the last weld will be conducted. The work is expected to finish at 2 pm on Jan 23 then AAG’s transmission capacity will be completely resumed.

Earlier, AAG submarine cable, connecting international Internet traffic with Vung Tau, a coastal city in the south of Viet Nam, was found cut at 8.05am on Jan 5. Cable cut has caused Internet traffic of Internet services providers in Vietnam to be seriously affected. Therefore, they had to use landlines to minimize loss for their customers.
