Official photos of rare giant muntjacs unveiled

The Viet Nature Conservation Center and the Quang Binh provincial Department of Forest Rangers have officially introduced photos of the Sao La deer to the public on August 13.

The photos featuring two individual Sao La were shot by camera trap set at the Dong Chau forest in Khe Nuoc Trong area, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province in 2012 and 2103.

Sao La (known as Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) which is the most in need of urgent conservation action is one of the rarest and most threatened mammals on the planet.
