Robot Robotacon 2018 launched in HCMC

The sixth robot talent contest ‘Robot Robotacon – WRO 2018’ took place on August 18 – 19, 2018 in the Military Zone 7 Competition Center, in Phu Nhuan District of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

This contest is meant for students aged 8 to 20 who are interested in Robot technology and S.T.E.M (science, technology, engineering, and math). It also aims at choosing the best team to take part in the World Robot Olympiad 2018.

The contest attracted more than 1,500 competitors from over 500 primary, junior-high, and high schools nationwide.

After the preliminary round, 283 winning teams with 770 contestants entered the final round, an increase of 50 percent compared to 2017. Among them, there were 85 teams from Hanoi, Nghe An Province, and Da Nang City.

All teams were divided into groups in accordance with the model of World Robot Olympiad (WRO) contest.

Total prizes are worth nearly VND1billion (approx. $42,950)

The champions will represent Vietnam to take part in the upcoming WRO 2018 in November in Thailand.

The contest was jointly held by the HCMC Department of Education and Training, Viet Tinh Anh Joint Stock Company’s LEGO Education brand, and Samsung Vina Electronics Limited Co.
