Viettel announced on May 4 that its total earnings from overseas markets in 2017 increased by 38 percent compared to 2016 and nine times as much as the average growth rate of the global telecommunications industry.

In particular, Viettel’s new markets in Africa and South America continued to have a healthy development. For instance, Viettel Cameroon, Viettel Mozambique, and Viettel Peru rose by 103 percent, 79.03 percent, and 37 percent, respectively.

In the last quarter of 2017, the abroad revenues of Viettel increased by 40 percent compared to this time last year.

In 2017, the worldwide investment of Viettel had positive profits. Since its first investment until the end of 2017, the total accumulated money it received from all its foreign markets was $1.3 billion.

The most significant reason for its spectacular global earnings growth in 2017 is that it was the pioneer in providing the 4G service in seven out of nine markets, bringing a growth of 20 percent for the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

In addition, Viettel also received high profits from providing telecommunications solutions and information technology applications to giant businesses and governments of many markets.

In 2017, the total earnings from channel and information technology projects of Viettel for national governments were six times as much as those in 2016.

In 2018, international investment activities of Viettel aim at maintaining the positive profit and reach a growth rate of 32 percent as well as an increase in the number of customers of 16 percent compared to 2017, having a total of 50 million international customers.
