Vietnam win five more golds at SEA Games, in 2nd place

Vu Thi Huong won the blue-ribbon event in 11.34 seconds to break her own national record of 11:.43. It was her third straight win at the annual games.

Vietnamese athletes also won a silver and two bronzes.

In shooting, Vietnam won two more golds in the air rifle event.

Ngo Huu Vuong and Nguyen Van Tung and Do Duc Hung won the men’s 10m air rifle team event.

Vuong snagged another gold medal, this time in the individual event with 560 points, while Tung and Hung won silver and bronze medals with 559 and 555 points.

In wushu, Nguyen Huy Thanh, Tran Duc Trong, and Tran Xuan Hiep won the men’s team Taolu (performance) gold medal with 9.50 points.

In the women’s team weapons demonstration event, Vu Tra My and Vu Thuy Linh won a silver medal with a score of 9.45 points. Singapore won the gold medal.

The day’s last gold medal for Vietnam was won by Trinh Thi Nga who beat her Cambodian rival Chea Sraymeas in the women’s single badminton final.

The Vietnamese women’s football team beat hosts Laos 3-0 Sunday to enter the final against defending champions Thailand on December 16.

Myanmar won the bronze after crushing Malaysia 7-1.

The Vietnamese men’s team will take on Singapore in the semifinals at 6:00 pm December 14 while Laos will play Malaysia at 7:00 pm.
