Football: Falko Goetz in Vietnam to cancel head coach contract

German coach Falko Goetz was present in Hanoi Thursday to finish the procedures for cancellation of his contract as Vietnam head coach with the Vietnam Football Federation.

A VFF extraordinary meeting on December 22, 2011 agreed that the football body would cancel the contract with the coach following the Vietnamese U-23 team’s poor performance in the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia in November.

The German tactician was not present at the unusual meeting as he taking vacation in his country.

An agreement from his meeting with VFF representatives in Hanoi Jan. 5 was that the organization would pay him about US$66,000 for three months’ salaries as compensations.

Goetz and his representative are scheduled to stay in Hanoi until Jan. 9 and then come bank to Germany.

He signed his three-year contract with VFF as the Vietnam head coach in June 2011. The monthly salary was US$22,000, not including allowances.
