After his forced exit from HAGL, Lee Nguyen is yet to be contracted with any local football clubs.

The cancelled contract worsens HAGL’s already sad situation with losses in both early matches in the V league so far. Nguyen’s absence will leave a greater hole in the team formation, since the departure of Thai center half Datsakorn Thonglao earlier this season caused a weakness. There is no doubt that a line up without Lee Nguyen would be even easier to break.

The farewell to Lee Nguyen was easy for any fan to predict due to several arguments between Lee Nguyen and the team since training began for the championship. However, the rift was not expected until later and the early dismissal comes as a shock, especially when the team faces so many problems at the V-League.

Both Lee Nguyen and the leaders of HAGL have their own reasons for the parting. In a recent interview with a local newspaper, Lee Nguyen expressed his displeasure over the salary and conditions at HAGL.

The HAGL management, for one thing, would not miss Lee Nguyen’s defiant disobedience and rude arguments with the Thai head coach Kiatisuk "Zico" Senamuang. Perhaps the worst thing that Lee did to the team was failing to appear at the match against Hoa Phat Ha Noi. The final loss of 1-2 caused the management much upset driving them to decide to finish his contract early.

This is the second time that HAGL has canceled a contract with a foreign football player since their sudden goodbye to Agostinho Petronil.

Currently, after finishing the contract with HAGL, Lee Nguyen is still a free agent.
