Established by the ITF in 1986, the fund is designed to encourage the establishment of both junior and professional tournaments, and provide opportunities for players in many countries, especially in less developed nations, to gain international competitive experience.
The fact that the fund has started paying attention to Viet Nam means more chances for Vietnamese players to improve their skills and obtain more competing experience, said Mr. S. Uthrapathy, former Executive Director of the Asian Tennis Federation, which is one of the six regional associations of the ITF.
With the fund’s financial assistance for Viet Nam, the ITF will also help the Viet Nam Tennis Federation run coach training courses.
The four Grand Slam tournaments are Wimbledon, Roland Garros, the US Open and the Australian Open.
