Maradona to Play Football in Viet Nam

Argentinean football hero Diego Maradona will visit Ho Chi Minh City from June 1 to 3 with other Argentinean footballers, according to Luis Lestani, CEO of his sponsor Elemco Overseas Corporation.

Nicknamed the Golden Boy, Maradona helped Argentina win the World Cup 1986 and finish second in the 1990 World Cup along with Goycoecha, Almeda, and Buruchaga, who will play a friendly against former members of Viet Nam’s national team on June 2.

The visit is part of their Asian Tour 2007 through Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam, and China.

Diego Maradona captained 90 games for the Argentinean national team, playing in four World Cups, and received a FIFA award after being voted the best footballer of the 20th century in an internet fan poll.

He debuted in professional football in 1975 and played his farewell match in November of 2001.
