Coach Phan Thanh Hung of the Hanoi T&T football club will be in charge of the National Men's Football Team, announced the Vietnam Football Federation.
Although the decision still needs approval from the National Sports and Physical Training Administration, the VFF chairman assured that no one but Hung will be chosen.
"The time is right for him to take this national responsibility and we stand by our decision, because at present there are no other options," said VFF chairman Nguyen Trong Hy.

Public opinion thinks that Hung has the right to select his assistants as well as players, looking at age, football team managing experience and athlete’s past track records.
The biggest obstacle is that the VFF wants to sign with a coach who will work under a long-term contract, but temporarily Hung can only serve as coach for the next four months after the V-League's round 20 closes on June 3.
"My hope is to be back to my Hanoi T&T club after my duty with the National Team ends." said Hung.
His first competition will be two friendly matches against China and Hong Kong (China) within a few days after he is assigned.
Some days after the matches, the two sides will sit down and sign the contract.
The salary for the head coach is around VND200 million (US$9,500) per month in case of long-term contracts. It will be adjusted to suit the current situation, though VFF has not revealed the figure.
The two friendly matches of the team are considered a warm-up for Vietnam ahead of the Southeast Asian Football Federation Cup that will kick off later this year.
