SEA Games: VN temporarily ranks third with 53 gold medals

By 9:30pm yesterday, the Vietnamese sports delegation won total 53 gold, 38 silver and 48 bronze medals to temporarily rank the third position after Malaysia and Thailand on the eighth day of 29th SEA Games.

In the competitive day of August 27, the Vietnamese athletes earned two gold, three silver and five bronze medals. 

The gold medalists were Tran Thi Nhu Y in the women's 78 kilogram weight class Judo, Ha Thi Nguyen in the women’s under 62 kilograms Taekonwdo.

The silver medals went to the Vietnamese female futsal team, Duong Quoc Hoang in billiards category, and Pham Thi Hien in Taekwondo. 

The bronze medals belonged to the Vietnamese female and male volleyball teams, Ngo Phuong Mai in swimming category, Ly Hong Phuc in Taekwondo and Nguyen Anh Tuan in billiards event. 

Host country Malaysia  currently ranks the first position with 96 gold medals at the 29th SEA Games’ medal tally. And, Thailand runs the second position with 54 gold medals.
