Tien Minh loses title at Taipei Open badminton

Vietnamese badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh failed to defend his title at the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open, which concluded in New Taipei City on September 8.

Minh, the world No 5 and tournament favourite, did not look quite his usual self as he lost 21-19, 9-21, 18-21 to unseeded Son Won-ho of the Republic of Korea in the men’s final, which lasted around 80 minutes.

RoK players also dominated all other categories of the annual 200,000 USD event.
