Vietnamese players to compete in finals of World Chess Championships 2015

Vietnamese chess masters Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Pham Le Thao Nguyen had tickets to go through the final round in Azerbaizan on September, 2015 after defeating Philippines competitors in the zone 3.3 qualifying round of World Chess Championships 2015.

Le Quang Liem earned 7.5 points to win Philippines player Laylo Darwin in the eighth set and went through the final round after drawing with Philippines player Barbosa Oliver in the zone 3.3 qualifying round yesterday.

On the same day, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son knocked out Torre Eugenio of Philippines with 7 points, and he bagged a ticket in the next round.

In the women’s category, Pham Le Thao Nguyen excellently won championship with 7, 5 points after defeating Philippines competitor Suede Mikee Charlene. With the result, Thao Nguyen bagged a ticket in the final round.

Last year, Quang Liem, Truong Son and Nguyen Thi Thanh An were representatives of Vietnam delegate to compete in the finals of World Chess Championships 2014.
