Despite all efforts, the players lost out to a strong Thai football team. At the beginning of the match, the Vietnamese team constantly created many shoots towards the goal but by the 32nd minute, Vietnam scored a goal by Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet.

However, Thailand equalized 1-1 before half time, scored by Thailand attacker Seesraum in the 40th minute.

In the second half, midfielder Maijaren unexpectedly brought the second goal for Thailand. With this, Thailand scored one more gold medal and defeated Vietnam with a 2-1 score.

In this year’s SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's football team could not successfully defend the championship.
