The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap People’s Committee said the provincial tourism industry in the past years had developed rapidly as the province had welcomed a high number of international and domestic tourists.
Vietnam General Statistics Office (GSO) said the number of international visitors traveling to Vietnam reached 1,229,167 in August alone, an increase of 18.5 percent over previous month and up 35.1 percent compared with last year.
The central province of Thua Thien Hue welcomed 414,500 international visitors in the first half of this year, up 6.76 percent year-on-year, with tourists from the Republic of Korea (RoK) topping the list.
The online tourism model has recently seen a strong growth in Vietnam, according to a report at the Online Tourism Day 2017 held yesterday in Ho Chi Minh City by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM).
During the first half this year, the number of international visitors to Vietnam saw a year on year increase of 30.2 percent to reach 6.2 million, of which 58.5 percent come from Northeast Asia, reported the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
