Viettel operates first 5G station in HCMC

Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) yesterday finished suitable infrastructure and piloted the first 5G station in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). It is speeding up the equipment installation process to introduce 10 more stations in Ward 12 of District 10 in this August.

HCMC wants to be equal to developed nations in telecommunications infrastructure

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) should offer 5G technology citywide in 2022 at the latest so that its telecommunications infrastructure would be equivalent to developed urban areas like New York City, asked Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung in the working session with the HCMC People’s Committee yesterday on information and communications development from 2019 – 2020.

Opposite voices have been given at the international conference on 4G/5G technologies in Hanoi about whether Vietnam should prepare itself for the upcoming 5G technology while the 4G one has just been adopted. It was then concluded that the development of 5G technology was the inevitable, and that Vietnam should be properly-prepared if it did not want to be left behind.
