Tens of thousands of people from HCMC and southeastern provinces returned to their hometowns in the Mekong Delta to celebrate the Tet holidays on February 11, overloading National Highway 1A and other routes such as Highway N2 and Highway 50 and causing badly traffic jam.

The controversial tollbooth Cai Lay BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) has resumed operation since 9 a.m. today after three month halt in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, announced National Highway 1A Tien Giang Investment Company.

The HCMC People’s Committee has approved electronic toll collection projects at three BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) tollbooths in An Suong-An Lac stretch in National Highway 1A, Phu My Bridge and Hanoi Highway.
