The international conference ‘Very High Energy Phenomena in the Universe’ was held yesterday at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICESE), located in Quy Hoa Valley of the central city of Quy Nhon.

Professor Luu Le Hang, a non resident Vietnamese living in the US has made her mark in the field of astronomy, winning many international awards, with her biggest achievement being when a planet was named after her in 1992. Her colleague, Prof. David C. Jewitt, once commented that because of her valuable contribution, she is worth being called a Super Star.

A dazzling meteor shower or “falling stars” will be visible in Vietnam as well as throughout the world between midnight of August 13 and early morning of August 14, according to Nguyen Duc Phuong, Deputy Secretary of Vietnam Astronomy Society.
