Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The yesterday presided over a meeting with the People’s Committee of Hai Phong city and relevant agencies to implement the Prime Minister’s requirement on Cat Bi airport adjustment and expansion.
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) yesterday said that it would invest nearly VND12 trillion (US$528 million) in upgrading three airports namely Cat Bi in Hai Phong city, Phu Bai in Hue city and Chu Lai in Quang Nam province.
Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company had proposed the Ministry of Transport to permit construction of the second passenger terminal at Cat Bi Airport, the northern city of Hai Phong, said the company yesterday.

Vietnamese carriers had to cancel and change departure and landing times for domestic flights at Cat Bi airport in the northern city of Hai Phong on March 13 because of drizzle and deep cloud.
The Gov’t is planning to construct and upgrade three airports in the northern region, namely, the Quang Ninh International Airport in Van Don District of Quang Ninh Province; the Cat Bi Airport in Hai Phong City; and the Sao Vang Airport in Thanh Hoa Province.
