Tomorrow September 7, a cold wave is forecast to hit the northern mountainous region then being spread out to the north central region and several areas cross the central central region, said the National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting this morning.
The Department of Livestock under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on January 27 said that extreme cold wave conditions in the first 15 days of January killed about 520 cattle in the northern region.
Le Thanh Hai, deputy director of the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, said that another very severe cold front will hit the northern region by the end of this month, causing extreme temperatures across wider areas.
The bitter cold wave has extended for 12 more days in the northern region, resulting in students not attending schools, thousands of residents being rushed to hospitals, and hundreds of cattle dying from the frost and chill.
Hundreds of Vietnamese traders are transporting fresh flowers to the northern province of Lao Cai for export to China, where a sudden huge demand has sprung up after consecutive cold waves destroyed their flower crops.
