According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam (CAAV), Air Asia, a Malaysian budget Airline, has submitted an application to open direct flights between Malaysia and Viet Nam.
If its registration form is valid and there is a demand, licensing procedures will be finished within 30 days.
However, the chances of that happening are slim, as this route is already saturated by other carriers.
CAAV said that if Air Asia opens routes to Ha Noi and other places, they will not have any problem getting the licence.
There are three budget airlines present in Viet Nam for the time being, they are Tiger Airway (Singapore), Thai Air Asia (Thailand) and Garuda (Indonesia).
