Airfares rise to cover aviation service fee

Carriers will raise their fares because of the increase of airport taxes, charges and fees, leading to higher ticket prices.

Under the permission from ministries of Transport and Finance, types of airport charges and fees at airfields, including Noi Bai, Da Nang, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Cat Bi, Vinh, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Lien Khuong, Phu Bai and Buon Ma Thuot will increase by VND11,000 per person from April 1- June 30.
Accordingly, airport service fees will see an additional increase of VND5,000 per passengers, up from VND80,000 to VND85,000; and will cost VND100,000 starting from July 1.
Meanwhile security screening fees will increase by VND6,000 per turn to VND18,000.
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines will increase the price of an one-way fare for children by VND30,000-VND40,000 per, at 90% of the adult fare.
The low-cost airline Vietjet has also informed its agents to adjust their passenger service fee (airport charge) and security fee for screening in the time ahead. Passengers will pay for flight date, time and name changes an amount of VND374,000 and VND495,000 per person on local route and VND800,000 per passenger on international flight.
These fees are separate from the ticket prices, but are included in the total cost that passengers must pay.
