The city received nearly 1.5 million long- stay tourists in the first six months of the year, up 16 percent compared to the same period last year.

Cai Rang floating market is the largest floating market in the Mekong Delta and becomes the most attractive tourism destination of the city.

Carrying out the project for three years, Can Tho city spent nearly VND16 billion from the local budget for preservation of the floating market, especially advertising and introducing tourism, protecting environment and waterway traffic systems in the area.

According to Deputy Chairman of the Can Tho city People’s Committee Mr. Duong Tan Hien, it is necessary to properly assess the situation of the project, including accounting number of vehicles and cargoes flocking to the floating market.

Besides that, the local tourism industry needs to diversify more and more tourism services in the Cai Rang floating market, and to focus on the locality’s strengths, he added.
