A signing ceremony on opening the direct air route from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong was held in Can Tho on April 23.
The new service will be operated by Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) and the Vietravel tourist company strating May 7.
An oneway ticket will cost VND90, 000. Vietravel will charter two flights using 65-seat ATR plane per week. Aircrafts will be provided by Vasco.
In addition, the national air carrier Vietnam Airlines will offer a discount on Rach Gia-Phu Quoc route.
Accordingly, a round trip fare will be reduced to VND1.2 million from VND2.6 million; and one way ticket will cost VND 850,000.
The airline will operate three flights a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province and the carrier hope that the cheap airfare will attract more visitors to Phu Quoc.
