HCMC-first destination of promotion campaign“Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism Year 2020“

South Korea is fast becoming a hot destination for tourists from Vietnam lately, Daegu city government and Gyeongsangbuk-do province (South Korea) decided to choose HCMC as the first destination for its campaign to promote ‘Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism Year 2020’.

Daegu city and Gyeongsangbuk province authorities in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Board (KTO) in Vietnam organized a "Roadshow Program” and a seminar to introduce Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, aiming to exploit Vietnam’s tourism market – a potential tourism market in Southeast Asia.
Many Korean tourism enterprises especially Daegu Mayor Kwon Young Jin and Vice Chairman of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Yoon Jong Jin attended the campaign in Ho Chi Minh City.
The "Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism Roadshow" program held at the outdoor stage at the Youth Cultural House in District 1, with participation in boiling music performance of the group D-Crunch - new rookie K-Pop group debuted in Korea, along with cultural exchanges and Korean tourism .
The program "Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism Seminar" held at Lotte Legend Hotel Saigon, with the participation of many tourism, aviation, travel businesses of both South Korea and Vietnam.
Within the framework of this event, the city of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province together with KTO in Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four typical travel companies in Vietnam including Saigontourist, Vietravel, HanoiRedtours and Fiditour to promote tourism to Daegu-Gyeongbuk.
According to KTO Vietnam, there are many available direct flights from Daegu to major tourist cities of Vietnam such as Daegu - Hanoi route with 14 flights per week; Daegu - Da Nang route has 46 flights a week; Daegu - Nha Trang route has 8 flights a week .
In the first four months of 2019, more than 170,000 Vietnamese tourists traveled to Korea, an increase of approximately 32 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
