Men receive nine-month ban for in-flight smoking, not paying fine

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a nine-month ban on two men for in-flight smoking and not paying fine.
A man, 36, hailing from the northern province of Hai Phong was detected to smoke in cabin in the flight VJ154 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. He was fined VND4 million ($171.8); however, he didn’t pay the amount despite competent agency’s warning.
Consequently, he received the nine -month ban from June 24, 2019 to March 23, 2020.
Similarly, a man in the flight QH1402 of Bamboo Airways refused to pay the fine and he was prohibited to get onboard from June 20, 2019 to March 19, 2020.
Inflight smoking is prohibited by almost all airlines, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Passengers who smoke on board will receive an administrative fine of VND3 million – VND5 million. In case that they don’t pay the fine, they will receive a ban.
