According to the proposal, duration of stay will increase from 15 to 30 days to suit the visitors’ travel demand.

The number of visitors from the five western European nations posted a year on year increase of 13.91 percent during nine months when the policy was carried out starting last July.

Belarusian tourists alone reached 6,000, up 65 percent which is the highest ever.

The policy has yielded an extra of US$55 million direct revenue and $116 million indirect income to the tourist industry.

The ministry also sought the PM’s approval to apply unilateral visa exemption to people of 13 nations traveling to Vietnam under package tours by international travel companies, which have been licensed to operate in the country.

Visa granting should be conducted at border gates and online to facilitate international visitors to Vietnam, the ministry suggested.
