North-South straight air route using the airspace of Laos and Cambodia will be opened in June 2015, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Aviation authorities of three countries Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have agreed to set up the straight airway from north to south Vietnam in two phases at a conference on the preparation for the new service in Da Nang.
The first stage will establish Tan Son Nhat-Noi Bai straight air route with an altitude of FL350 at max (35,000 feet or 10,650 meters). Another direct air route, which is parallel to the first one, from Noi Bai to Tan Son Nhat airports will be set up in the second phase.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will coordinate closely with authorities of Laos and Cambodia, and the Asia - Pacific office of the Organization International Civil Aviation (ICAO) to prepare to launch the direct air route between the capital and HCMC over Laos and Cambodia which is scheduled to begin on June 25, 2015.
The new Ha Noi-HCM City air route flying through Laos and Cambodia airspaces will help save 5 minute and is 85km shorter than the current one that flies over the East Sea.
