Tay Ninh province needs strategic investor to boost tourism

Experts said that to boost its tourism industry, Tay Ninh province just 100 km far from Ho Chi Minh City needs to attract several experienced strategic investors.

With interesting places, the province holds a huge potential for cultural and spiritual tourism thanks to its diversity in terms of culture, customs and traditions yet for years, it has not earned much from smokeless industry.
The province has 240km of borderline with Cambodia and 16 pairs of border gates of including two international border gates Moc Bai and Xa Mat especially Trans – Asia important road crossing that facilitate tourism sector. For years, the province has spent thousands of billion on upgrading road systems such as major National highway 22A and 22B.
It is hoped that the expressway linking Ho Chi Minh City with Moc Bai International Border Gate and the expressway connecting two border gate Moc Bai - Xa Mat will be a push for the province’s economy and tourism development.
Though the province has interesting places such as Ba Den Mountain, a famous complex of cultural and historical sites and beauty spots, and Binh Thanh Cham Tower, a monument of the Oc-Eo culture, Cao Dai Temple, a complex of Great Temple, Chanh Mon Gate, four towers and Mother-of-Buddha Temple, base of revolution of South Vietnam during wartime, Chop Mat ancient towers and Ma Thien Lanh Valley with cool weather, its tourism industry has not contributed much to the province's economic growth.
In the period 2012 - 2016, it attracted nearly 4.1 million visitors with growth rate of 5 percent and earned turnover of VND770 billion, accounting for 1.3 percent in the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita. Eight two-star hotels and 31 one-star hotels with around 4,000 rooms could not meet holidaymakers’ demand.
At a seminar on Tay Ninh province’s Tourism themed "Potential, Advantages and development chance", experts pointed out obstacles for the province’s tourism. For instance, Dr. Mike Turner from Broward College in British said that just a few locals can speak English to communicate to international tourists.
So far, the province has called for 20 tourist projects of which the largest project has registered capital of VND300 billion to build a commercial center and hotels while small projects with investment capital are from billions to tens of billions. After the survey of Sun Group Corporation, the administration expected the strategic investors will boost the local tourism industry.
Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Ngoc said that the province adopted many measures including tax, land and infrastructure preferential policies to call for investment. Additionally, leaders will promote teaching English to the locals.
