Vietnam Airlines launches direct flight to UK

Vietnam Airlines held an inaugural ceremony in London on December 9 to launch its first direct flight from UK’s Gatwick airport to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam Airlines held an inaugural ceremony in London on December 9 to launch its first direct flight from UK’s Gatwick airport to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the inauguration, Pham Ngoc Minh, general director of Vietnam Airlines said the airline will use Boeing 777 aircraft and offer four flights per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Flights will depart from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 23:30 hours and from London’s Gatwick airport at 12:20, local time. Travel time will be 12 hours, a saving of seven hours as compared to other transit stop flights.
