The Viet Nam Railway Corporation (VNR) announced yesterday to sell tickets for travelling in traditional Tet holidays online starting December 1.
Accordingly, VNR will open its website on November 21 to sell tickets online via www.dsvn.vn or www.vietnamrailway.vn or www.vetau.com.vn.
Passengers can buy tickets and search for train schedules as well as detailed instructions for passengers. They can also select the railroad cars and seats from anywhere – home, work, and a café. Passengers can pay online, or in cash, credit at the station as usual.
VNR said that to prevent fraud, the website would require passengers to provide full personal information and their Identity Card numbers.
The system can handle two million customers at a time. Children, students and seniors will get discounts of 50 per cent, 10 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively.
Long lines during holidays have caused trouble for people trying to book train tickets. The online system is expected to curb this situation, it is hoed that it will make it easier and fairer for passengers to buy tickets, particularly during busy times like Tet.
VNR also said the from February 8 to March 2, 2015 rails which is scheduled to serve around 12,000 passengers will run to transport people from the North to the South and vice versa.
