Vietnamese Tourists Shun Troubled Thailand

The number of Vietnamese tourists to Thailand has dropped by half compared to February, say local travel companies, who blame the political turmoil in Thailand for the reduced interest.

Thailand is among the favorite foreign holiday places for Vietnamese tourists
Last month Fiditourist only booked five tour parties of two to three dozen people each for Thailand, while Vietravel’s weekly bookings for that country in February totaled no more than 400 individuals.

Other travel companies like Ben Thanh Tourist and SPSC Tours are seeing the same fall-off in numbers.

In consequence, the average price of a tour to Thailand has dropped by US$100 to US$230 or so.

Until recently, Thailand was among the favorite foreign holiday places for well-heeled Vietnamese people.
