Coffee exports expected to top $1.6bn

According to a forecast by the Department of Exports and Imports of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coffee exports are expected to reach US$494 million in the last four months of this year, which will raise this year’s total revenue to $1.6 billion.

The department said coffee exports to Belgium, the largest market for Vietnamese coffee, rose strongly at the beginning of the year and is expected to improve further.

Coffee production of the next crop is expected to be around one million tons.

Firms have proposed the ministries of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Finance, and the State Bank of Vietnam to provide them with interest-free loans to purchase around 150,000 to 200,000 tons of coffee.
