Robusta coffee prices have soared and breached the threshold of VND30,000 (US$1.8) per kilogram over the last week in the Central Vietnamese Highlands.

Yesterday, Robusta coffee was traded at VND30,700 per kilogram in Buon Ma Thuot City and VND30,800 in Lam Dong Province’s Di Linh District.
The price hike is attributed to the late harvest caused by cold weather and the long rainy season.
Coffee harvests in Dak Lak Province, Viet Nam’s biggest coffee growing area, declined by 40,000 tons, down 17-18 percent over the previous crop.
However, it rose five percent in Lam Dong Province, the country’s second big coffee zone.
