CoopMart, Vissan cut meat prices

Supermarket chain CoopMart and Vissan Limited Company announced a reduction in chicken and pork prices on July 9.

At CoopMart, a kilogram of chicken is VND2,000 cheaper at VND37,000.

Both said that from July 10 the price of all kinds of pork would be reduced by VND2,000 a kilogram.

A kilogram of trotter will cost VND68,000 and pork chop VND66,000.

Van Duc Muoi, deputy general director of Vissan, said pork prices are down because pig prices have slid to VND37,500 per kilogram.

In related news, at wholesale markets like Binh Dien and Thu Duc the prices of vegetables, fruits, and chicken have also fallen because of increased supply.

Most supermarkets have also announced promotions for many other goods, cutting the prices of kitchen appliances, electrical goods, toys, and clothes by 5 to 50 percent.
