Gold, stocks increase in tandem

The price of gold in Vietnam edged up by VND500,000 per tael (1.2 ounces) to surpass VND39 million per tael on July 11 as global bullion price exceeded US$1,400 an ounce after the US Federal Reserve signaled interest rate cut.

Saigon Jewelry Company bought gold at VND39.05 million per tael and sold at VND39.37 million per tael at 2 p.m.


Doji Gems Group purchased the precious metal at VND39.17 million per tael and sold at VND39.47 million per tael at the same time.


Meanwhile, the Vietnam’s stock market extended rising momentum to three consecutive trading sessions thanks to bullish sentiment on Asian stock markets. The VN-Index rallied 4.98 points, or 0.51 percent, to close at 978.63 points.


The HNX-Index of the northern bourse gained 0.83 percent to 106.01 points.
Liquidity on the market continued to be improved with matching value at VND3.2 trillion.
