Government limits users to 3 prepaid phones

From August 10, Vietnamese subscribers can have no more than three prepaid mobile subscriptions

People in Vietnam can no longer have more than three prepaid mobile subscriptions with any single service provider, the Ministry of Information and Communications has mandated in a circular that took effect August 10.

An estimated 40 million numbers will have to be given up as a result of this decision aimed at improving oversight of prepaid subscriptions.

Vietnam has seven mobile service providers and nearly 100 million numbers, 90 percent of them prepaid, according to figures from the companies.
