She said at a trade and promotion seminar in Saint Petersburg chaired by her and Mr. Chernuykh Andrey Nikolaevich, representative of the city’s legislative council.

VN-Russia trade turnover was recorded at US$3.75 billion last year and is expected to increase by 2.5 times to hit US$10 billion this year, she added.

Ms. Hong expressed her hope that the two nations would take more actions to better exploit their great trade potentials. Efforts from businesses only will be insufficient to do that, it requires assistances from authorized agencies also.

At a previous meeting with Moscow authorities, she had proposed the city to appoint a specific body which Vietnamese firms can contact with to solve their difficulties timely.

Vietnam – Russia Trade Company director Nguyen The Phuong said that Vietnamese exporters should work with professional consultant companies in Russia to get legal assistances and market information.

On the same day afternoon, Ms. Hong visited vice governor of Saint Petersburg Sergey N.Movchan, who affirmed that the two cities could completely cooperate in medicines, hi-tech, shipbuilding, energy, machine manufacturing, garment and food.
