Increase in trade between Vietnam and Middle East

Vietnam Customs revealed that trade between Vietnam and the Middle Eastern countries touched US$4.86 billion in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

Export turnover was $3.03 billion, up 73 percent year-on-year while import turnover was $1.83 billion, down 7 percent year-on-year.

Among the countries in the Middle East, exports to the United Arab Emirates reached $1.48 billion, up 152 percent; to Israel about $217 million, up 120 percent; and to Saudi Arabia almost $395 million, up 116 percent over the same period last year.

Vietnam exports cell phones and accessories, fiber, textile yarns, seafood, computers, and electronic devices and components to countries in the Middle East while mainly importing plastic materials, diesel oil, liquefied petroleum gas, metals, potassium fertilizers, and cattle feed.
