Safety and Hygiene for Seafood Export Intensified

The ministry urges seafood producers to tighten control over usage of medicine in aquaculture.

The Ministry of Fisheries will impose a compulsory period for seafood producers to apply food safety and hygiene regulations.

Only businesses, which abide by food safety and hygiene standards set by the Fisheries Ministry in line with the obligatory period, will be allowed to process seafood for exports.

Furthermore, the Fisheries Ministry will check, supplement and adjust related regulations targeting seafood processing and export establishments, and keep fishing ports under regular control in a bid to prevent contamination of chemicals and antibiotics in raw and semi-processed materials.

The ministry has also urged local seafood producers to tighten control over usage of medicine in aquaculture, particularly in shrimp nursing, and provide fishermen with basic information about banned medicine and chemicals.
