Of the index, there were 165 winners, 63 losers, while 73 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse dropped by 21 percent in volume and rose by 8 percent in value over the previous day as around 46.59 million shares changed hands at a value of VND1.37 trillion.
Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) was the most active share in volume with 5.24 million shares changing hands.
Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) followed with 1.45 million shares traded.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) tagged along with 1.36 million shares.
PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation (PVD) curbed its five-day losing streak, saving 4.97 percent to VND40,100.
General Materials Biochemistry Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (HSI) and AgriBank Securities Joint-Stock Corporation (AGR) both obtained 4.88 percent to VND8,600.
Phu Tai Joint Stock Company (PTB) regained 4.86 percent to VND15,100.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) nosedived 5.56 percent to VND1,700.
Khang Dien Investment & Trading House Joint Stock Company (KDH) shrank 4.99 percent to VND32,400.
Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) lost 4.88 percent to close at VND78,000.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north revitalized 1.51 percent, or 1.13 points, to finish at 76.01 points. Trading on the northern floor fell by 19 percent in volume and 14 percent in value over the previous day as nearly 38 million shares changed hands at a value of VND439.49 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also regained 0.41 percent, or 0.13 points, to 31.62 points. A total of 212,100 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.22 billion at 2 pm local time.
