The shares of 295 companies and five closed-end funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange enhanced 1.47 percent, or 6.66 points, to close at 459.92 points.
Of the index, 140 stocks gained, 83 lost, while 77 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse declined by 22 percent in volume and 24 percent in value over the previous day as around 47.27 million shares changed hands at a value of VND716 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, won the spot of most active share in volume with 1.95 million shares traded.
Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) followed with 1.7 million shares changing hands.
PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) came next with 1.23 million shares.
Biggest winners on the city bourse included Phu Tai Joint Stock Company (PTB), Sao Vang Rubber Joint Stock Company (SRC), and Meca Vneco Investment & Electricity Construction Joint Stock Company (VES).
National Seed Joint Stock Company (NSC) plummeted 9.48 percent to VND31,500. The company will pay dividends for the second term of 2010 and advance dividend for the first term of this year to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 20 percent since September 29.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) shrank 5.56 percent to close at VND1,700.
COMA 18 Joint Stock Company (CIG) diminished 5 percent to VND5,700.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north corrected 0.21 percent, or 0.16 points, to finish at 76.78 points. Trading on the northern floor fell by 10 percent over the previous day as 60.27 million shares changed hands at VND715.49 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares also inched up 0.03 percent, or 0.01 points, to 31.48 points. A total of 223,175 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.29 billion at 1:50 pm local time.
