The CR stamp on a helmet means it meets Viet Nam’s QCVN 2:2008 standards.
In what is thought to be a uniquely Vietnamese fashion phenomenon, manufacturers make helmets for women two-wheeler riders that resemble hats.
Those are now banned until further notice. But the Ministry of Science and Technology has asked the Vietnam Standard and Consumers Association and other agencies to consider which of these helmets can meet QCVN 2:2008 standards.
Enterprises found selling unauthorized helmets will be fined.
