Dorothy Dwoskin and Barbara Weisel, two assistants to the US Trade Representative, lead the 12-member US delegation, and Viet Nam’s Deputy Trade Minister Luong Van Tu leads the Vietnamese delegation.
The US delegation comprises 12 specialists on economics, trade and law, and three experts from the US Embassy, according to the Committee for International Economic Cooperation.
At this round, scheduled to last two and a half days, Vietnamese and US officials are focusing on addressing issues in financial services, telecommunications, taxes for industrial goods and services, non-tariff barriers, agriculture tax, and business rights.
After the opening meeting, the negotiators divided into two groups to discuss opening the goods and service markets. The talks were valued to be promising.
In this round, the US delegation plans to hold working sessions with officials from the ministries of Finance, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Post and Telecommunications.
