Vietnam sees over 4,350 M&A deals within 10 years

Vietnam has seen 4,353 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals worth US$48.8 billion in the phase of 2009-2018.

During the phase, 2017 recorded the highest M&A value with $10.2 billion increasing 175 percent over the previous year.
In 2018, the number might hit $6.5-6.9 billion including the value from many large deals such as BGR Group’s purchase of 65 percent shares of Hapro, Vincommerce’s acquisition of Fivimart which has been renamed VinMart and VinGroup’s purchase of Vien Thong A.
A slew of M&A deals are forecast in fields of consumer goods, retail and real estate in coming years. In addition, telecommunications, energy, infrastructure, medicine and education are expected to significantly contribute to M&A activities in Vietnam.
